Abstract
The report briefly traces Chinese history and the status of animals in China (with sections on companion animals, fur, tiger farming, bear farming, farm animals and animals in entertainment) before describing the current political system in the country and how legislation is developed and passed. The final two chapters cover existing legislation affecting animals and current initiatives relevant to animal advocacy and animal welfare legislation in the country.
