The human brain shrinks as we get older, and changes in our cognitive abilities are inevitable. Research on the impact of pets on human health and well-being has produced mixed results. In some recent studies, pet owners were less susceptible to age-related cognitive changes. But does petkeeping cause better cognition or are mentally sharp people more likely to have pets?
